History of MIS

Maritime Information Systems was incorporated for the purpose of utilizing the Internet/WWW and its related technologies for communications and other purposes in the international maritime industry. MIS offers various services to organizations and individuals interested in the many related segments of the international maritime industry, marine transportation and world trade.

MIS' revenue is currently derived from: website design / creation and hosting services; consulting fees; MGN Dirrectory listing fees; advertising via MGN's Website Directory and the weekly MGN Newsletter; and product sales via MGN's Website and Newletter.

MIS has been a frontrunner in the application of Internet / WWW technology within the Maritime Industry. MIS' MGN Website and Maritime Directory, activated in July 1995, was one of the first available on-line. MIS currently hosts industry sites and accounts on its service.

MIS Services

MIS offers services in the areas of Website Design, Website Hosting, Web-enabled Database Structuring; Data Distribution / Communication via Internet / WWW and Fax; Internet / Intranet Consulting and Technical Services. MIS maintains its own servers for client website hosting, and offers its clients access to statistical analyses of visitor usage for their individual websites.

MIS also maintains the Maritime Global Net Website and the MGN E-Mail Newsletter. Both are dedicated to the international shipping industry and are viewed by thousands of maritime professionals worldwide. MIS has recently unveiled it's World Ports database, and will soon offer a comprehensive directory of maritime service organizations.

MIS has also developed a technique to utilize the Internet / WWW as a means of conveying Requests for Quotation (RFQ's), Purchase Orders (PO's), Quotations and Invoices between Ship Operators / Managers and their suppliers. This project includes "database - HTML - database" document conversion and is being implemented by a major supplier of advanced Ship / Fleet Maintenance software.

The following pricing is provided for estimating purposes only. MIS will provide a specific proposal based on client's particular circumstances / requirements. Consider a "page" as equivalent to an 8" x 11" ("A" size) sheet of paper or 3 "display screens" of content.

• $ 75.00 - Business Card (1 screen) for Single Line Listing
• $250.00 - Basic 2 page (6 screen) "Homepage" (Includes graphics, photos, text, search tool registration)
• $125.00 - Sites to 10 pages (per page price) (Includes above + CGI scripting, multimedia, image maps)
• $100.00 - Add'l pages [up to 10 (over 1st 10)] (per page price)
• $ 45.00 - Time based hourly rate for sites over 20 total pages

Hosting & Management of Websites:

• $ 50.00/mo - Hosting (up to 10MB storage; w/FTP Account and access via MS "FrontPage" or WS_FTP for remote site management by client
• $ 75.00/mo - Hosting (as above and incl MGN Multi-Cat. listing/links)
• $125.00/fee - InterNIC Domain Name Registration (valid for 2 yrs)
• $150.00/fee - Data Download Fee (applies to clients with existing HTML files being transferred to MIS server for hosting)
• $ 45.00/hr - Content changes, etc. by MIS (based on scope / effort required)

Contact MIS

The principals in MIS are maritime industry professionals with a total of more than 50 years experience in various aspects / segments of the industry. In addition, MIS principals and personnel are experienced in database and website development, particularly in "database-to-website integration", and in the technology and use of DNS, Web, FTP and E-Mail servers.
